U.S. Department of Labor Launches Interactive Dashboard for Severe Injury Reports

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has introduced a new online tool designed to provide users with interactive access to its Severe Injury Report database. The dashboard offers insights into workplace injuries reported in states under federal OSHA’s jurisdiction.

What Does the Dashboard Offer?

The Severe Injury Report Dashboard enables users to:

  • Search and download data by year, industry, state, establishment name, and Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS) codes.
  • View trends in workplace injuries and incidents dating back to 2015.

This resource serves as a valuable tool for employers and workers to understand the frequency and causes of severe injuries in their industries.

Empowering Injury Prevention

OSHA encourages the use of the dashboard to gain insights into how severe injuries occur and leverage its safety resources to prevent such incidents. An instructional video is also available to guide users on effectively navigating the dashboard.

Reporting Severe Incidents

Employers are required by federal law to report the following work-related incidents to OSHA within 24 hours:

  • In-patient hospitalizations
  • Amputations
  • Loss of an eye

For assistance in preventing workplace injuries, OSHA offers support through compliance assistance specialists and on-site consultations available nationwide and in U.S. territories.

This new tool underscores OSHA’s commitment to transparency and proactive safety measures, equipping employers and employees with the information needed to foster safer workplaces.
